All courses run from the 1st April to the 31st of October and are available 7 days a week from the 1st of July to 30th September, weekends only at other times. Please email us first with the dates you require. We cannot guarantee the date because of tides (except for sea sailing) but we will do our best to accommadate you or offer the closest date possible. COURSES (18 years +)
 
Start Sailing - Level 1
For Adults with little or no experience of sailing in single handed dingies. The aim of our course is to provide an introduction to the basic skills and knowledge required for the equivalent RYA dinghy start sailing award Level 1.
 
Course content
An introduction to the sport covering the basic knowledge required to get afloat under supervision. It will give you a basic understanding of handling techniques and background knowledge. This course is run in a laser Pico over two days and costs £105.
 
 

Basic Skills - Level 2 improver

For Adults who hold the RYA level 1 award or equivalent (ie. Rapid Sailing School (RSS) Adult level 1) and wish to work toward the equivalent RYA Basic Skills Level 2 
 
Course content.
Becoming a competent sailer with and introduction to sailing techniques and manoeuvers, rigging, launching, safety, capsize recovery and rules of the road. This course is run in a laser Pico over two days and costs £105.

YOUTH AND ADULT COURSES 
 
Youth sailing scheme
RYA stages 1 to 4 and the new advanced modules for ages 8 to 17. All these courses are run by us at an outdoor education centre in Christchurch Harbour in group lessons only, and are therefore number dependant. Please contact us for details of the next available course and stage running and for details of the course content and requirements. Each course/stage costs only £60.
 
 
Introduction to Lasers and Handling.
For Youths and Adults with relevant sailing experience (ie. RYA Level 1 and 2 or Rapid Sailing School (RSS) Level 1 and 2 or equivalent practical experience). Also available as an introduction course to those with little sailing experience.
 
Course Content   
All the essentials you need to know about sailing one of the world's most popular single handed olympic class dinghy, considered by most people to be the purist form of sailing. This course will coach you in the basic techniques you need to sail the world's most favourite sail boat. This course is run over two days and costs £120 for both Youths and Adults.
 
 
Introduction to Laser Pico Race and Handling.
For Youths and Adults with relevant sailing experience (ie. RYA Level 1 and 2 or Rapid Sailing School (RSS) Level 1 and 2 or equivalent practical experience).
 
Course Content   
All the essentials you need to know about sailing the popular Pico dinghy, within the race environment. This course will coach you in the basic techniques you need to sail this race fitted XD Pico so you can start to think about aiming for a good place in those Nationals! This course is run over two days and costs £120 for both Youths and Adults.
 
 
Start racing - Two Days
For Youths and Adults with relevant sailing experience (ie. RYA Level 1 and 2 or Rapid Sailing School (RSS) Level 1 and 2 or equivalent practical experience).
 
Course Content   
The essentials you need to know about racing one of the world's most popular single handed dingies, the Laser, considered by most people to be the purist form of sailing. This course will coach you in the more advanced techniques you need to race the world's most favourite sail boat at a fun and informal level. This is your start to enjoying club racing and will give you all you need to know to get round the course with confidence, skills and knowledge. This course is run over two days and costs £120 for both youth and Adults.
 
 
Introduction to Lasers and Racing
For Youths and Adults with relevant sailing experience (ie. RYA Level 1 and 2 or Rapid Sailing School (RSS) Level 1 and 2 or equivalent pratical experience).

 

Course Content

This is an intensive four day course and covers all the aspects of the above Laser introduction and racing courses. This course will coach you in all the basics of the things you need to know about sailing the Olympic class Laser and costs £210. Please note this is our most popular advanced course and early booking is appreciated.

Advanced Race Training

We can offer various courses in race training/coaching in both single handers (Laser1 and Pico sport) and first time high performance helm and crew dinghy (L2 and Vago XD) depending on your abilities. Please email us first with your qualifications/experience and your requirements so we can discuss in more detail. Some of these courses are held at the Weymouth and Portland Olympic sailing academy WPNSA. Thank you.

BUOYANCY AIDS ARE PROVIDED FOR YOU, LUNCH AND DRINKS ARE NOT PROVIDED. PLEASE BRING PLENTY OF WATER (TO DRINK THAT IS!) THANK YOU.

Please note. With the exception of the youth sailing courses, most of our courses offer the Rapid Sailing School (RSS) certificates signed off on successful completion and assesment by a qualified Royal Yachting Association (RYA) instructor. These levels/stages mirror the RYA sylabus. If you wish however to optain the RYA certificates as well please speak to the instructor on the course.
